Aubrey Dabney, Marquess of Bexbury

An old friend of Lord Raxdell - his champion at Eton - a classical scholar and antiquarian and of similar inclinations to Raxdell. Was obliged to flee the country at least partly on account of his very radical political views. Living for many years at Naples, where he contracted malaria, badly affecting his health. Returns to England in order to tidy up his affairs and take care of his legacy, when his nephew Rowley Dabney, whom he expected to inherit, dies in a driving accident, apparently unmarried and without issue.
